nighttime pain

                   As the rain falls down,
                  all she can do is frown.
                Watching the cars go by,
               she's wishing she could die.

                  The weeks pass away,
             hour by hour and day by day.
                 She's watching it all fade,
      as she's  pulling down the window shade.

                 Always trying to be strong,
        even when knowing that she's wrong.
               Trying to be both sword and shield,
as part of her just wants to run away across the field.

          Everything inside feels a bit shattered,
            feeling on the outside quite battered.
               Even though she still feels like dying,
          she knows she has the will to keep on trying.
